The Transport Appeal Boards
Introduction to Transport Appeal Boards (TAB)
The Transport Appeal Boards (TAB) are independent bodies established under the Transport Appeal Boards Act 1980. They are empowered to hear and determine appeals by employees of NSW public sector transport authorities to dismiss or otherwise discipline them. They also determine appeals against decisions to promote other employees to vacant positions. The Boards will determine which employee is most entitled to the appointment.
When hearing an appeal a Board consists of three persons:
-
a Chairman or Vice-Chairman (appointed by the Governor for a fixed term);
-
an employer's representative nominated by the employing authority;
-
an employee's representative nominated by the relevant association of employees (union)
